14. Emma Willard


Emma Hart Willard(1787-1870) was a pioneer of education- the first American woman to actively campaign for higher education in math, science and social studies for girls. She opened her first girls' school in 1814. Her Female Seminary in Troy, New York, opened in 1821, educated hundreds of teachers.
