49. Elizabeth Gurley Flynn


Elizabeth Gurley Flynn(1890-1964), the "Rebel Girl," was a teenager when she made speeches for workers' rights and led strikes for the Industrial Workers of the World. She helped start the American Civil Liberties Union in 1920.

  1. The ACLU is still going strong today. They continue to protect the rights of the people and uphold the law especially in the case of minorities and those treated unfairly.
