8. Betsy Ross


Betsy Ross(1752-1836) helped design, then sewed a banner of red(for courage), white(for purity), and blue(for justice). One June 14, 1777, the Congress officially called for a flag with 13 stars and stripes for the 13 colonies.

  1. She's a pretty fancy dresser for a seamstress. I wonder if she used a thimble? Does it say anything about a Mr. Ross in her biography?
