"Flappers" started "bobbing" (cutting off) their long hair and skirts so they could look like film star Clar Bow, (1905-1964), the "It Grild" in the movies.
We have a picture of my mother from the 1920s when she was about 6 or 8 years old. Her hair looked just like this. We always called it her "it girl" picture!
