17. Abigail Scott Duniway

Abigail Scott Duniway(1834-1915) was seventeen when she and her family went on the Oregon Trail. Out west, she ran a school, a hat shop, and a newspaper to support her disabled husband and six children. She also campaigned to win equal justice for women and suffrage-the right to vote.
