Mary Pickford(1893-1979) "America's Sweetheart" starred in silent movies. She organized the United Artists Corporation with Charlie Chaplin, D.W. Griffith and Douglas Fairbanks.
You may not believe this, but I remember my mother sitting me down in front of the TV when I was young and letting watch old Black and White silent films with Mary Pickford. She loved her and faily swooned over Douglais Fairbanks and all of his "swashbuckling movies. As for me, I like Charlie Chaplin. When I became a clown, I took the name "Charley". He was one of the reasons why, even though I spell my name a little differently.
