Amelia Bloomer(1818-1894) came to the 1848 meeting in Seneca Falls. She was one of the first women to edit her own newspaper, The Lily. Determined to free women from their heavy skits and petticoats, she started wearing "Turkish pantaloons." People just laughed at Amelia's "bloomers".
So now if you hear some older folks say "Hey, nice bloomers" you'll know that it comes from Amelia Bloomer and her turkish pantaloons.
